1.1 To lay down the procedure for Pest and Rodent Control treatment in "NAME" Pharmaceuticals Ltd. .

Scope
2.1 This Sop is applicable for controlling
the pest and rodent in "NAME" Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
3.0
Responsibility
3.1 Officer, Admin shall be responsible for
:
Ø To check that Pest control is carried out
in all departments.
Ø To check Rodent Control is done properly
at proper place and baits are placed properly.
Ø Ensure Insectocutors are working and
cleaned as per procedure by housekeeping personnel.
4.0 Abbreviations and Definitions
4.1 Insectocutors: Insectocutors are electrical devices that contain blue colored tube lights and a wire net with high voltage current.
5.0 Materials and Equipment
5.1 Personal protective cloth, mask
6.0 Precaution / Health and Safety Considerations
6.1 The insecticides/ Pesticides used are highly toxic and so avoid contact with skin and eyes.
6.2 Inhalation should be avoided during spraying.
6.3 Oral ingestion to be avoided.
6.4 In case of poisoning antidotes shall be available in manufacturing plant.
7.0 Procedure
7.1 As a policy both pest control and rodent control are carried out by an external recognized expert agency.
7.2 Service contracts with the pest and rodent control agency shall be reviewed on yearly basis.
7.3 The pest control activities perform on monthly basis.
7.4 Only contractor’s trained person shall be allow for conducting the pest control activity.
7.5 The area and the pesticide point shall be mentioned .
7.6 For Rodent control (Glue Process):
7.6.1 Glue pads are used only in special cases like noticing a rodent in a particular area.
7.6.2 Provide the glue pads as and when required.
7.6.3 If any Rodent is caught in the glue trap alive it shall be released outside the premises.
7.7 For Rodent control (baiting with slow poison)
7.7.1 Keep poisonous baits at a distance of about 20 feet from each other as per map.
7.7.2 If any dead rat found to dispose of it by burying in the land.
7.7.3 Record the observation.
7.8 For General disinfestations (Pest and Rodent Control) :
7.8.1 Area includes:
Ø Administration Block/Security Block
Ø Canteen / Dining Hall,
Ø Toilets, and change room
Ø Outer Periphery
Ø Utility and service area
Ø Hoist / Lift
Ø Receiving bay and dispatch bay
Ø Staircase of non-production area
7.8.2 Spray the area as per pest control map disinfestations plan with given concentration of Pesticides as per the schedule of the contractor.
7.8.3 Prepare a mixture of the above-mentioned Pesticides in water so as to give the desired concentration.
7.8.4 Ensure that person spraying the pesticides is fully protected with personal protective equipment masks, hand gloves, etc.
7.8.5 Clean the area thoroughly the next day morning.
7.8.6 Document the spraying activity and observation .
7.9 Insectocutor:
7.9.1 These are placed at all the entry points so as to trap a flying insect and prevent it from entering the production area or ancillary areas.
7.9.2 Insectocutors are required to remain ON all 24 hours of the day.
7.9.3 Clean the interlocutors at least once a week by the following procedure:
Ø Switch OFF the electrical supply and open the cover.
Ø Clean the wire net and make it free of dead insects
Ø Count and empty out the insect collection tray into a bin. Wipe the tray clean.
Ø Clean the surface of the Insectocutor by wiping with the duster and refit the tray.
Ø Switch ON the Insectocutor.
7.9.4 Record the date of cleaning and the next due date and numbers of insects found .
7.10 Lizard Control:
7.10.1 Area includes:
Ø Administration Block/Security Block
Ø Canteen / Dining Hall,
Ø Toilets, and change room
Ø Outer Periphery
Ø Utility and service area
Ø Hoist / Lift
Ø Receiving bay and dispatch bay
Ø Staircase of non-production area
7.10.2 Carry out the spray as per schedule with the pesticides of appropriate concentration once in a fortnight.
7.10.3 Check the area for any lizard and remove the dead lizard if any by burying in the land.
7.10.4 Document the spraying activity and observation .
7.11 Spider Control:
7.11.1 Area includes:
Ø Administration Block/Security Block
Ø Canteen / Dining Hall,
Ø Toilets, and change room
Ø Outer Periphery
Ø Utility and service area
Ø Hoist / Lift
Ø Receiving bay and dispatch bay
Ø Staircase of non-production area
7.11.2 Carry out the spray as per schedule with the following pesticides of appropriate concentration
7.11.3 Document the spraying activity and observation.
7.12 Flies, Mosquito, and Cockroach Control:
7.12.1 Area includes:
Ø Administration Block/Security Block
Ø Canteen / Dining Hall,
Ø Toilets, and change room
Ø Outer Periphery
Ø Utility and service area
Ø Hoist / Lift
Ø Receiving bay and dispatch bay
Ø Staircase of non-production area
7.12.2 Carry out the spray as per schedule with the pesticides of appropriate.
7.12.3 Check the area for any cockroach. Remove the dead cockroach if any by burying in the land.
7.12.4 Document the spraying activity and observation
