1.0 Purpose
1.1 To lay down a procedure for the Preventive Maintenance for Fluid Bed Dryer.
2.0 Scope
2.1 This procedure is applicable for the Preventive Maintenance of Fluid Bed Dryer .
3.0 Responsibility
3.1. Only trained Technician/ Engineering Officer is responsible for execution of this procedure.
3.2. Head of Engineering and Maintenance shall
be responsible for the implementation of this SOP.
3.3 Head of QA / designee shall be responsible
for compliance of this SOP.

7.0 Procedure
7.1. General Conditions
7.1.1 Refer the master plan of preventive maintenance.
7.1.2 Equipment shall be available for preventive maintenance.
7.1.3 Clean oil / grease stain and remove unwanted materials, spares after completion of work.
7.2. Procedure for Preventive Maintenance of Fluid Bed Dryer
7.2.1 Ensure that electrical supply is in off position in main panel and display “Under Maintenance” on the panel
board and guard are properly fixed.
7.2.2 The Technician or above has to ensure and verify the check points for the preventive maintenance as shown
in the Annexure-I and Annexure- II.
7.2.3 After the completion of preventive maintenance, check the machine for smooth operation.
7.2.4 Remove “Under Maintenance” on the panel board after completion of the Maintenance.
7.2.5 The Technician perform the job will enter his name / sign in “Done by” column and responsible Engineer /
Officer, Production will put sign in “Checked By” column.
7.2.6 Quarterly maintenance will include the jobs of monthly maintenance, half yearly Maintenance will include the
jobs of monthly and quarterly maintenance and year maintenance will include the jobs of monthly, quarterly, half
yearly and yearly maintenance.
7.3 Monthly preventive maintenance is to be carried out as per the following check points:
7.3.1 Check and tight the foundation bolt of bottom body all exposed nut and bolts.
7.3.2 Clean the FBD filters as per respective SOP.
7.3.3 Check all the roller of product container trolley for any jam problem. Change the roller bearings, if needed.
7.3.4 Tighten all the electrical connections and clean the electrical panel with hand blower.
7.3.5 Check all pneumatic pipes and valves for any leakage of air, if found damaged, replace the same.
7.3.6 Check the filter bed supporting hanger (hook) for any damage.
7.3.7 Check the supporting mounting bolt of lowering cylinder of filter bag housing.
7.3.8 Check all clamping bolts of ducting system (Inlet and Outlet ducting).
7.3.9 Check the motor terminal connections and tighten the same.
7.3.10 Check all the clamps of product container and tight them, if required.
7.3.11 Check the following gasket for any damage: Gasket between retarding chamber and product container,
gasket for explosion flap, “O” ring for butterfly valve.
7.4 Quarterly preventive maintenance is to be carried out as per the following check points:
7.4.1 Check the filter bag shaking cylinder for any leakage of air. (if required, air seal is to be changed).
7.4.2 Checked the pneumatic cylinder for any air leakage. (If required, replaced pneumatic Cylinder piston “o” ring and
sealing gasket)
7.4.3 Check and clean air heater, air inlet and air outlet.
7.4.4 Check the proper Earthing.
7.5 Half yearly preventive maintenance is to be carried out as per the following check points:
7.5.1 Check and tighten the blower motor terminal connection.
7.5.2 Check the blower impeller for proper balancing.
7.5.3 Check the entire solenoid valve with coil. (If required, change the solenoid valve and coil).
7.6 Yearly preventive maintenance is to be carried out as per the following check points:
7.6.1 Check the main switch, fuse and switch contacts of test lines for continuity.
7.6.2 Check interlocking of process timer.
7.6.3 Check pressure relief flap.
7.6.4 Check all electrical connection (control panel, all motors) for any loose connections, burned contracts,
signs of overheated wires, tighten / replace the same.
